Wasted Energy Dollars
In the United States alone, it is estimated that $4.5 billion in energy costs are wasted each year in outdoor lighting that shines up into the sky. This excess use of energy also translates into added pollution created by operating the lights and producing the electricity as well as in added dependence on foreign oil.
Notice the progression in waste in just eleven years. The picture above is from 2003. The one below is from 1992.
